Light is On For You

"The Sacrament of Reconciliation calls us back to God and embraces us with his infinite mercy & joy." - Pope Francis

Advent is a time to prepare for the coming of our Lord and a season which provides Christians an opportunity to renew their faith in him.  When we sin, we harm our relationship with God and his Church. That is why the sacrament of reconciliation is such a wonderful gift to experience at this time of year.

To provide parishioners additional opportunities to experience the gifts of this sacrament, parishes and clusters will participate in "The Light is On for You," will be held the third week of Advent.

“During Advent, ‘The Light is On for You’ is a chance for all of us, including those who have been away from the Church, to receive the gift of forgiveness by coming to Christ through reconciliation,” said Bishop Deeley. “Invite your family members and friends to come with you to experience the wonder of God’s mercy by confessing sins with honesty and humility. After making a good confession, people experience great peace. It is a sacrament of love.”

Before participating in the sacrament of reconciliation, it may be useful to reflect upon your thoughts and actions. To assist you, the U.S. bishops put together “A Brief Examination of Conscience Based on the Ten Commandments."
