Mass Cards & Stipends

Mass cards and stipends imageA beautiful way to honor, thank, or remember a loved one, while supporting missionary work, is to have a Mass celebrated for them by a mission priest.  Through the Mass offering, you and your loved one will be united in the love of Christ with your brothers and sisters in another part of the world.

While we often think of Masses being celebrated for the deceased, they are also wonderful gifts for someone in need of healing or for those celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or another special occasion.

Your Mass offering provides crucial support for a mission priest somewhere in the world, often poor himself, who is serving the poor of his community.  Mass intentions are sent to priests in mission dioceses worldwide, including those in Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, and remote regions of Latin America.  In addition, money donated for Mass cards and stipends support retired priests and missionary priests who reside here in Maine.

Mass Cards

A donation, usually $10, is requested for a Mass card. The donor who requests the Mass receives a commemorative card which they can fill in and present to a loved one or keep as a memento. Mass cards may be obtained by contacting the Office of Missions at [email protected] or 207.321.7817,

Mass Stipends

Mass stipends are an offering given by someone who is requesting that a Mass be said for a person or for an intention. Mass intentions may be arranged either through your parish or through the Missions Office. No card is issued for Mass stipends.
