Office of Professional Responsibility
Michael Magalski is the Director of Professional Responsibility. The Office of Professional Responsibility formalizes the process of investigating complaints of various kinds that have been filed against members of the clergy, other employees, or volunteers of the diocese. An important element of his responsibilities includes protecting the rights of both the accuser and the accused throughout the investigative process.
Mr. Magalski is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement. He served as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, the last 17 as the Resident Agent in Charge of the Portland, Maine, Office.

Diocesan Review Board
The Review Board was established in February 2003 to advise the Bishop regarding reports of sexual abuse of minors by clergy.
The members of the board are respected business and community leaders who are selected for their demonstrated independence, fairness, and outstanding expertise in various fields.
These fields include psychiatry, law enforcement, law, and education. The board reviews and assesses accusations of sexual abuse of minors and makes recommendations to Bishop Deeley.
