Given the size of the Diocese of Portland, each year the oils are brought to Aroostook County to be used for sacraments throughout the year.
On Monday April 14 in the afternoon, the following framework was sent by the diocese to the steering committee of the independent group in response to a proposal for a bridge year.
The Chrism Mass, during which the oils that will be used in the sacraments during the coming year are blessed, brings together clergy, religious, and parishioners from across Maine.
