Transitus Service - Lewiston

In commemoration of the passing of Saint Francis from earthly life to eternal life, Prince of Peace Parish will hold a Transitus service led by Bishop James Ruggieri at 6 p.m. at the Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash Street in Lewiston.

It has long been a tradition for Franciscans to gather on the evening of October 3rd to commemorate St. Francis’s death and to reflect on his life. “Transitus” is a Latin word meaning “passage” or “passing over.”
