In an effort to fund several necessary building improvements, Christ the Divine Mercy Parish launched a capital campaign on October 1. St. Martin of Tours Church opened in 1970, while St. Peter Church was dedicated in 1966.

In celebration of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, which is October 4, Fr. Lou Phillips, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Westbrook, visited the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland where he blessed about 30 cats, dogs, bunnies, and birds looking to be adopted.

Students at St. Michael School in Augusta put down their books and iPads on Friday, September 30, and picked up rakes, rags, and gloves to help make their community a better place through the United Way Day of Caring.

St. James School in Biddeford and St. Thomas School in Sanford will host fundraising road races on Saturday, November 5, to support the schools’ collective mission to provide a top-notch Catholic education to each of their students.

“Un-Delete-Able” will be held on October 21-22 with the Friday presentations aimed for teens and Saturday’s gathering focused on adults.

When the initiative was created in 2016, hitting 1,000 snacks was considered a lofty goal, but parishioners and community members have helped make that large amount of support seem almost pedestrian thanks to their generosity.

The celebration was an opportunity for parishioners, community members, and Maine dignitaries to recognize the self-sacrifice of the public safety community, to remember first responders who have given their lives in the line of duty, and to pray for all those who serve.
