Holy Week: Calais Parishioners Celebrate Palm Sunday with Passion Journey through Town
CALAIS---“I can think of no better way to kick off Holy Week than to walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The words of Marc Podschlne, director of faith formation at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Calais, aptly describe the lively yet solemn gathering of over 100 faithful on Palm Sunday, April 2, for a moving presentation of the Passion journey through town.
Men, women, and children of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish reenacted Christ’s journey to the cross, from his condemnation at the hands of Pontius Pilate to his crucifixion, death, and resurrection. The procession began outside a home on Main Street and finished at Immaculate Conception Church on Calais Avenue. Along the way, participants stopped, prayed, and reenacted all 15 Stations of the Cross, sharing a reflection after each.
