A custom that dates back to the tenth century will be renewed at a special vigil Mass in Jay on Monday, August 14, in celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15)
The event is a benefit for the South Portland Food Cupboard at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church.
The event benefits Holy Cross School in South Portland, the Scarborough Land Trust, and Project G.R.A.C.E. in Scarborough.
Held on the second Tuesday of the month, the free Matthew Meals are hosted in the cafeteria of St. Thomas School from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy a free delicious pasta dinner, fresh bread, salad, beverages, and even dessert.
