Saint Dominic Academy is looking for an Athletic Director as its Auburn campus. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Certified teacher and/or Athletic Administrator (215)

· Courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs

· 3 to 5 years successful experience as a head coach

· Organizational and Interpersonal skills

· Knowledge and Belief in the Mission of the School and Church

· Active Catholic preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Athletic Director will provide every student with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities and co-curricular opportunities that will foster the Dominican Pillars of service and community through development of physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play utilizing the Play Like a Champion Today philosophy.

SUPERVISES:

Coaches, athletic personnel, and gymnasium, locker rooms, and athletic areas.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Serves as a member of the Administrative Team.

· Organizes and administers the middle and high school program for extracurricular athletics and co-curricular activities.

· Organizes and administers all Summer Programing related to co-curricular activities.

· Works with coaches, captains and parents to promote Play Like a Champion Today philosophy.

· Recommends to the principal the selection of athletic coaches.

· Assumes responsibility for maintaining a calendar indicating the scheduling of all activities in the gym and on the athletic fields including all interscholastic athletic events for the high school and middle school.

· Hires officials and policemen as required and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games including crowd control.

· Obtains checks for officials.

· Attends, supervises and administers most home contests.

· Arranges for appropriate medical coverage at all home games.

· Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.

· Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.

· Works closely with the Principal, Maine Principals Association, and leagues on eligibility rules and problems.

· Determines the academic eligibility of all athletes as stated in the student handbook and notifies all ineligible athletes, their parents, and their coaches.

· Prepares and administers the athletic program budget for the high school and middle school.

· Requisitions, in cooperation with appropriate staff members, supplies, uniforms, and equipment for athletic programs.

· Arranges for the supervision of all ticket sales and fundraising events connected with the athletic program and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of moneys involved.

· Arranges all details of visiting teams’ needs, including gymnasium services and field assistance, as appropriate.

· Arranges the practice schedules for the coaches on the fields, rinks, pool and in the gymnasium.

· Keeps record of physical examination of athletics prior to the beginning of each season.

· Organizes and presides over athletic awards and presentations at the conclusion of each of the three sports seasons at the high school and middle school levels.

· Evaluates the coaching staff and makes recommendations for the continuation or dismissal on an annual basis at the end of each season.

· Works with Admin team and coaches to schedule athletic assemblies and pep rallies.

· Work with Admin Team to develop a physical education program.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Works as the school liaison for All Saints Booster Club and other applicable parent partnerships.

· Provides supervision of the gym, locker rooms and athletic corridor areas.

· Works closely with grounds keeper in preparation of fields.

· Arranges for publicity releases to area newspapers.

· Arranges for athletic announcements in the building.

· Supervises the cleaning, storage and care of all athletic equipment.

· Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.

· Plans, organizes and supervises all athletic awards programs.

· Assists parent group in staffing concessions and gates when needed.

· Strives to keep harmony among all members of the coaching staff.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Yearly contract; Hours are to remain flexible.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated yearly.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience
