Candlemas Day - Augusta

In celebration of Candlemas Day, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, St. Michael Parish will offer the traditional blessing of the candles on Saturday, February 2, during the 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 41 Western Avenue in Augusta.

Parishioners are invited to bring candles from home that they would like to have blessed. Then, throughout the year, those blessed candles can be lit during special occasions such as family dinners, baptismal days, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or celebration of saints' feast days. They can also be lit when someone is ill or when in mourning. The candles are a reminder of God's abiding presence and love during both joyous times and difficult ones.
