Journey to Emmaus Youth Curriculum
Journey to Emmaus is an optional resource for high school youth ministry.
The curriculum was originally developed by the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, and purchased by the Diocese of Portland for use in the state of Maine (at no charge to the parishes or Catholic schools).
The four-year learning cycle puts flesh on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Adaptation of Doctrinal Elements of a Curriculum Framework for the Development of Catechetical Materials for Young People of High School Age (USCCB 2010).
The content is organized in 10 sessions for each of two semesters per year. Each session addresses an aspect of Catholic faith and includes Scripture references, catechism and Church document citations, opening and closing prayers, games and icebreakers, a sample talk, and related media links to music, movies, and websites.
Content is accessible to parish youth ministry leaders and catechists by using specific codes available from the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation. The sessions for each semester are presented in a single "book," resulting in eight separate pdf files that may be viewed electronically or printed.
