Maine Catholic Youth Day Held in Brewer
BREWER---“The interactions, the connections, the reaching out, it was a great day.”
The words of Lori Dahlhoff, director of the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation, perfectly encapsulate a special day for nearly 60 Maine teens who participated in the Maine Catholic Youth Day on April 22 (pictures below).
The event, held in St. Joseph Church and hall in Brewer, followed the theme of “Breaking Bread,” as participants grew deeper in their knowledge of the Eucharist as source and summit while building community, making new friends, and sharing about their own journeys of faith.
The keynote presenters were the nationally acclaimed Doug and Dave Show, comprised of Doug Brummel and Dave Wilson, who joined forces in 2018 to create an entertaining and faith-filled experience of music, performance, and levity.
“Doug and Dave are based in Colorado and have earned the respect of many Church leaders for their innovation, creativity, and engagement,” said Shawn Gregory, coordinator of youth ministry for the diocese. “They encouraged the teens to respond to the good they are being called to do in their lives and to give back to God.”
Bishop Robert Deeley enjoyed lunch with those in attendance, and a Mass was celebrated during the day by Monsignor Andrew Dubois, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor, of which St. Joseph Church is a part.
