Bishop Robert Deeley announces new priest assignment effective February 15

Bishop Robert Deeley has announced a new priest assignment. Effective February 15, Father Agustin Sebasthiyan, HGN, has been appointed parochial vicar of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish in East Millinocket and St. Benedict Parish in Benedicta. Father Sebasthiyan will serve alongside Father Dominic Savio, HGN, pastor.

Father Sebasthiyan’s current assignment is as parochial vicar of the St. John River Valley parishes of Our Lady of the Valley in St. Agatha, Notre Dame du Mont Carmel in Madawaska, and St. Peter Chanel in Van Buren.  

Father Sebasthiyan is a member of the Heralds of Good News, a missionary society of apostolic life based in India. Ordained to the priesthood in 2011, he served as an assistant parish priest and a school principal in India before arriving in Maine in June 2017. His previous assignments in Maine included the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes, Holy Spirit Parish in Wells, and the Parish of the Precious Blood in Caribou.
