“ABIDE” Middle School Day of Reflection set for Houlton and Bangor this December

New dates have been chosen for ABIDE, a day of reflection for middle school students presented by the Diocese of Portland's Office of Lifelong Faith Formation.

ABIDE will now be held Saturday, December 9, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 110 Military Street in Houlton, and Sunday, December 10, 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at St. John Church, 217 York Street in Bangor.

Youths in grades 6 -8 are invited to come together to discover the meaning of Jesus’ words: “Abide in me, as I abide in you” (Jn 15:4). What does it mean to abide? What does it mean to abide in Christ? And how does that translate to daily living?

“We invite middle school students to take a day to discover what it truly means to abide in Jesus,” said Shawn Gregory, coordinator of youth ministry for the Diocese of Portland. “By knowing and loving him, we are better able to serve him.”

ABIDE was originally scheduled for late October but was postponed due to the Lewiston Mass shootings. The location of the second day of reflection was also moved from Waterville to Bangor.

The cost to attend is $15, which includes lunch. To register, please contact the youth ministry coordinator of faith formation director at your local parish.
