Bambinelli Sunday Blessing - Machias

Parishioners are invited to bring their Baby Jesus figurines to Mass at the churches of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish to have them blessed.

It has become a tradition in Rome that on the Third Sunday of Advent children bring “Bambinelli," Baby Jesus figurines from their family Nativity scenes, to St Peter’s Square for the pope to bless them. Many parishes have now adopted the practice as well, including St. Peter the Fisherman Parish in Machias.

The blessing will take place during the Saturday, December 14, 4:30 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 14 Hamilton Street in Lubec, during the 8:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 8 Free Street in Machias, and during the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Michael Church, 51 Elm Street in Cherryfield.
