Saint Dominic Academy is looking for a Dean of Students at its Auburn campus. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Teaching and/or leadership experience in a school setting demonstrating use and implementation of successful student behavior management strategies.

· Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field, MA education preferred

· A valid Maine teaching lice and/or valid Maine administrative license

 

REPORTS TO:

Principal MS/HS

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dean of Student will work closely with the principal, school personnel and student to build and maintain a positive, safe school climate in the following manner:

· Build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community members

· Collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders through a variety of methods

· Provide leadership of behavior management and supervision

· Facilitate the resolution of conflict

· Direct behavioral documentation, interventions and support.

· Create and implement student behavior expectations

· Assist conflict resolution strategies

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage and enforce school behavior expectations including attendance and dress code

· Confer with students, parents, and teachers regarding student related policies

· Assist staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans

· Serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues

· Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents in developing responses to interventions as necessary

· Assist in the planning development and implementation of student behavior plans

· Confer with students and parents and administer appropriate consequences

· Openly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior

· Manage the documentation of student behavior through the Student Management System

· Attend appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP, 504, conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.)

· Assist in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements

· Compile, analyze and share student discipline data regularly with administration and use data to inform decisions

· Make recommendations to the principal regarding school policies and procedures

· Develop and maintain relationships with community and government agencies in regard to problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse, truancy, homelessness, mental health initiative and other social issues.

· Assist in monitoring and maintaining student retention

· Assist in monitoring and supervising school facilities.

· Perform other tasks as directed by the principal.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Yearly, ministerial agreement

 

EVALUATION:

Yearly

 

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience
