Catechetical Leader

The Parish of the Holy Savior seeks a committed, active Catholic to serve as the Parish Catechetical Leader. This parish level position is responsible to collaborate with the pastor and staff to implement faith formation initiatives for every age group in the parish. The position includes managing catechetical and faith formation materials.

The catechetical leader facilitates the pastoral relationship between families/individuals and the pastor and oversees regular family events for the parish; contributes to the master calendar, coordinating with other parish activities and staff; collaborates with the business coordinator and pastor in the budgeting process; and participates in educational opportunities related to the position.

Additionally, the catechetical leader will facilitate Safe Environment policies and procedures and maintain the Sick & Homebound ministry. Successful candidates will have a strong background in Catholic faith formation, ability to work without direct supervision, and skill in collaborating with staff and parishioners.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with pastor and staff for faith formation • Facilitate Safe Environment policies and procedures; coordinate with business coordinator
• Contribute to master calendar, coordinating with other parish activities and staff
• Manage catechetical and formation materials as needed – children, high school, RCIA & adults
• Facilitate pastoral relationship between families/individuals and pastor
• Meet as needed with pastor and business coordinator
• Collaborate with business coordinator and pastor in budgeting process
• Oversee monthly “family events” for the parish • Maintain Sick & Homebound ministry
• Submit biweekly time sheet, reimbursement requests and mileage to the parish office

QUALIFICATIONS:

Personal

• A practicing Roman Catholic who upholds the teachings and practice of the church publicly and privately and participates in sacramental life of the church
• Skill in collaboration with staff and parishioners
• Self-motivated

Professional

• Diocesan Parish Catechetical Leader Certification Program or equivalent
• Participation in educational opportunities offered by the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation and parish as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to communicate effectively among staff and parishioners
• Ability to keystroke 1-2 hours per day with reasonable break
