Vinh Nguyen

Pastoral Year

Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston

My name is Vinh Nguyen. I am from Vietnam. I attended the College of Arts and Culture and Tourism in Saigon with a graphic design major. After I graduated, I worked at an advertising company for four years. I came to the U.S. in December 2016 and studied English at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Connecticut for two and a half years and at the Catholic University of America for one year. I currently study 1st theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, MD.

My grandfather’s brother, Huan Nguyen, inspired me to follow God’s calling. Fr. Huan was a priest in the Diocese of Vinh (1914-1973) and was the first diocesan priest in my parish. Throughout his life, Fr. Huan motivated young people in his parishes, helping them to discern vocations to priesthood and religious life. Now, because of the positive influence of Fr. Huan, there are many in my family who are priests and religious.
