Upcoming Intercessions
The following intercessions are provided for your use to support the development of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life in our diocese. They are keyed to the liturgical calendar. Please consider including them in your mass intentions.
Sunday of Advent (December 8, 2024) – Luke 3:1-6
• For the Church, that we may prepare the way for the Lord by encouraging vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our midst. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For those discerning their vocation, that they may hear God’s call clearly and respond with courage and commitment. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For our parish, that we may actively promote awareness of vocations, inspiring young people to consider lives dedicated to service. Let us pray to the Lord.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 9, 2024) – Luke 1:26-38
• For young people, that they may follow the example of Mary, saying “yes” to God’s call, especially in our vocations. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For those discerning their vocation, that they may find the grace and support needed to respond to God’s invitation. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For our parish community, that we may nurture a culture of discernment, encouraging one another to seek God’s will in each other’s lives. Let us pray to the Lord.
Third Sunday of Advent (December 15, 2024) – Luke 3:10-18
• For the Church, that as we witness the call to repentance in John's preaching, more men will respond to God’s call to serve as priests. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For those discerning their vocation, that they may be filled with the Holy Spirit's fire and courage to live out their mission in service to the Gospel. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For our parish community, that we may actively support and encourage young people to consider vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Let us pray to the Lord.
Fourth Sunday of Advent (December 22, 2024) – Luke 1:39-45
• For the Church, that like Mary’s response to God’s call, young men and women may courageously embrace their vocation and bear Christ to the world. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For all who are discerning their vocation, that they may recognize the joy and blessing of saying “yes” to God’s call in their lives. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For families, that they may nurture the seeds of faith in their children and encouraging them to listen for God’s call. Let us pray to the Lord.
Christmas Day (December 25, 2024) – John 1:1-18 or 1:1-5, 9-14
• For the Church, that the Word made Flesh may inspire more men and women to dedicate their lives to proclaiming the Good News as priests, consecrated, and married couples. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For families, that they may foster an environment where the call to the priesthood or religious life is welcomed, and where children are encouraged to respond to God’s invitation. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For all called to serve the Lord in consecrated life, that the light of Christ may shine through their witness and draw others to serve the Church. Let us pray to the Lord.
Feast of the Holy Family (December 29, 2024) – 1 John 3:1-2, 21-24 / Luke 2:41-52
• For families, that they may be the seedbed for vocations, teaching their children to listen and respond to God’s voice like the Holy Family. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For parents, that they may support their children in discerning their vocations, especially if they are called to priesthood or religious life. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For all young people, that they may be inspired by Jesus’ example of obedience and service, and open their hearts to follow God’s call. Let us pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God (January 1, 2025) – Luke 2:16-21
• For the Church, that like Mary, who pondered the mysteries of God in her heart, more young people will open themselves to God’s will and respond generously to His call. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For those discerning a vocation to serve God in consecrated life, that they may be inspired by Mary’s example of faith and trust. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For all families, that they may nurture a spirit of openness to God’s will, encouraging vocations to the priesthood and religious life in their homes. Let us pray to the Lord.
Epiphany of the Lord (January 5, 2025) – Matthew 2:1-12
• For the young people, that like the Magi who followed the star, they will seek and follow God’s will in lives. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For all who are discerning their vocation, that they may be guided by the light of Christ to follow His will with joy and perseverance. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For our parish community, that we may recognize and support those who feel called to serve the Lord in ordained ministry or consecrated life. Let us pray to the Lord.
Baptism of the Lord (January 12, 2025) – Luke 3:15-16, 21-22
• For the Church, that through the sacrament of Baptism, more men and women may hear the voice of God calling them to a life of service as priests and religious in the Church. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For those discerning a vocation, that they may experience the affirmation of God’s love, just as Jesus did at His baptism, and be encouraged to follow His call. Let us pray to the Lord.
• For our parish, that we may be a place where vocations are nurtured and where the call to priesthood and religious life is welcomed. Let us pray to the Lord.
