"Taste of Corpus Christi Parish” Set for Winslow on September 17
The “Taste of Corpus Christi Parish,” an end-of-summer tradition, returns to the St. John Center, 17 South Garand Street in Winslow, on Sunday, September 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During the event, people are invited to walk from booth to booth enjoying different food, such as chili, baked beans, hotdogs, pasta salad, bread, pies, cookies, watermelon, and cotton candy. The booths are all sponsored by volunteers and parish groups.
“It is a great chance for the different groups and organizations from the parish to work together to sponsor a fun social event for our parishioners of all ages. We are amazed every year at the turnout. Last year, because of the weather, we had to move the event inside, but it didn’t stop people from coming out,” said Kim Suttie, Corpus Christi Parish pastoral life coordinator.
Those sponsoring booths this year include the Knights of Columbus, volunteers from the food pantry/soup kitchen, and members of the parish’s faith formation team, music ministry, office staff, senior ministry, and youth ministry.
“Taste of Corpus Christi Parish” will also feature entertainment from Steve Colella, who is a local DJ, and kids will have the opportunity to enjoy the playground, get temporary tattoos, and have their faces painted, the latter thanks to members of Colby Catholics, the campus ministry group. Prior to the event, Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
This is a free event. For more information, contact the parish at 207-872-2281.
