Healing Services Set for Lewiston and Brunswick
LEWISTON---Three healing prayer services are scheduled for Maine churches in Lewiston and Brunswick in the coming weeks.
Catholics believe that healing occurs during all Masses through the gift of the Holy Spirit. During a healing service, participants remain open to the Holy Spirit and invite Him into their hearts in order for healing to take place. The theme of the entire Mass is healing, from the celebrant to the music to the participants to prayer teams. The theme of renewal is reflected in the liturgical prayers and Scripture readings, as well as in the music, which often consists of spirited praise and worship songs. Every situation is different but most involved say they receive an increase in awareness of Jesus being present and bringing peace and renewed strength.
Fr. Michael Sevigny, OFM Cap., will preside at healing services at Holy Family Church, located on 607 Sabattus Street in Lewiston, on Friday, February 24, and Friday, March 31. Both services will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and all are welcome to gather.
Fr. Richard Rice will lead a healing service at St. Charles Borromeo Church, located on 132 McKeen Street in Brunswick, on Sunday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m. All are also welcome to gather at this service.
“We will pray that the Holy Spirit will meet the needs for healing and for personal holiness, said Fr. Rice.
