Deacon Peter Joseph

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Deacon Peter Joseph, who died on December 8, 2014.  A deacon in the Maronite Rite of the Catholic Church, Peter was a member of Saint Joseph Maronite Church in Waterville for most of his life. In fact, he helped his father lay the foundation for the church when he was a young boy.  Deacon Peter spent his life in service to the church, as an altar boy, parishioner, lector, council member, sub-deacon, and deacon.

He was born and raised in Waterville, the youngest of seven children of John R. and Lena (Ferris) Joseph.  He attended Waterville schools, graduating from Waterville High School in 1941, then entered military service during World War II, serving in five major campaigns with the Third Army in Europe under General George S. Patton.

He married his wife Pat in 1946. The couple was married nearly 60 years until her passing in 2006.

In addition to his lifetime of service at St. Joseph Maronite Church, Deacon Peter was also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.  He also served as a member of Waterville Lion's Club  for 50 years, receiving the District's Lions President Award in 1964 as well as numerous awards for dedicated service.  He also held many other public and community service positions.
