St. Michael Parish in Augusta to Celebrate Earth Day with Public Zoom Session and Community Cleanup
AUGUSTA---St. Michael Parish (St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Augusta; St. Augustine Church, Augusta; St. Joseph Church, Gardiner; Sacred Heart Church, Hallowell; St. Denis Church, Whitefield; St. Francis Xavier Church, Winthrop) will host a pair of free events aimed at celebrating Earth Day and our “common home.”
The parish’s Social Justice Commission invites all to a free, virtual session on Thursday, April 21, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. entitled "Integral Ecology: Pursuing the Common Good for Our Common Home."
The Zoom session will include prayer and reflection and tackle topics like how we are called to care for God’s creation and how we can apply social teaching to protecting the earth while preserving the life and dignity of the human person.
The session will be facilitated by Frank Cuff, a member of the St. Michael Social Justice Commission. To register for the free session, please contact Gina Czerwinski, the parish life coordinator at St. Michael, at [email protected], or contact Frank at (207) 660-8050.
Then, on Saturday, April 23, all are encouraged to gather on the grounds of St. Joseph Church, located on 110 School Street in Gardiner, for a special clean up session from 9 a.m. to noon. Additional events, like plantings and other clean up sessions at parish and public properties, will be planned for later in the spring.
