Rivier Adoration Chapel Expands Schedule

"We are so blessed to have an adoration chapel in Lewiston. Anyone and everyone can come and adore Jesus in the exposed Blessed Sacrament. It’s beautiful.”

The words of Doris Belanger, a volunteer at the Rivier Adoration Chapel, encapsulates the feelings of the growing community of adorers at the chapel which is located in Holy Cross Church on 1080 Lisbon Street in Lewiston.

During adoration, a consecrated host, the real presence of Jesus, is left exposed on the altar in a holder called a monstrance and adds a feeling of closeness to Christ for those who gather. Visitors spend time in silent prayer or guided contemplation in the chapel, which can be accessed on the Baird Avenue side of the church.

In an effort to accommodate as many schedules as possible, here is the new schedule for adoration at the chapel:

Sundays: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mondays through Wednesdays: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Thursday at 8 a.m. through Saturday at noon

From Thursday to Saturday, the Angelus is prayed at 6 a.m., noon, 6 p.m., and midnight, and the Holy Rosary is prayed at 10 a.m. In addition, the Chapel of Divine Mercy is prayed each day at 3 p.m.

The chapel also offers special focused Holy Hours on Monday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (prayers for life from conception through natural death), Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (prayers for priests and all vocations), Friday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Sacred Heart devotions), and on the last Saturday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. (prayers for all those who are suffering with cancer).
