Polar Express event to raise funds for St. Joseph Center Food Pantry this weekend
The Narrow Gauge Cinema will host showings of The Polar Express on Saturday, December 14 beginning at 10 a.m. with ticket proceeds benefitting the St. Joseph Center Food Pantry in Farmington. Fr. Paul Dumais, pastor of St. Joseph (Farmington) and St. Rose of Lima (Jay) parishes will be a special guest, serving hot chocolate and cookies at the outdoor event.
The St. Joseph Center is a low-barrier food pantry opened during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that has continued ever since to provide nutritious food to neighbors.
“The unique approach of the St. Joseph Center Food Pantry seeks to help people stretch their dollars by providing an assortment of nutritious foods all day long. Entering at the St. Joseph Center on corner of Middle and Quebec Streets feels like entering into a little market," said Fr. Dumais. "John Moore [of Narrow Gauge Cinemas] has been part of this solution from the beginning and is offering an innovative response to hunger in the community."
A very generous community partner has offered to match the ticket proceeds with an additional donation amount double of what in taken in at the box office. Tickets are $15 for showings at 10 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The Narrow Gauge Cinema is located at 123 Narrow Gauge Square in Farmington. Tickets can be purchased online here.
The St. Joseph Center Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. People can come and go as they please ensuring the utmost freedom and dignity. The food pantry is staffed by generous parishioners and community members.
