Parish of the Holy Eucharist hosts campaign launch event

On Wednesday evening, December 4, the Parish of the Holy Eucharist hosted an open house at the St. Gregory the Great parish hall in Gray as part of the official launch of its "Fulfillment of a Dream" capital campaign. The campaign, which was formally announced on November 26, will fund the construction of the Fr. Jim Morrison Narthex at St. Gregory Church. This addition will include a gathering area, two ADA compliant private bathrooms, an expanded sacristy, a soundproof confessional, a bell tower visible from the main road, and more.

"While there are the obvious and useful improvements like restrooms, the project will also give the church more of a presence," said Danielle Tracy, chair of the parish's pastoral council. "It's such a beautiful and quaint property tucked in the woods, and the new tower will give the church a fabulous identity."

Father Steven Cartwright hosted the event along with the parish staff. Bishop James Ruggieri attended to meet parishioners and learn more about the project.

The narthex will be named in honor of Father Jim Morrison, who served as pastor in the mid-1980s and had a significant impact on the parish and beyond. Through the generosity of parishioners, $300,000 of the $400,000 goal has been raised. A groundbreaking is planned for spring of 2025.
