Holy Cross School in South Portland Hosts Two Veterans for Flag Ceremony

SOUTH PORTLAND---To honor veterans and celebrate their beloved school, the students, staff, and faculty of Holy Cross School in South Portland gathered in the school yard for a special ceremony on Thursday, November 10.

During the event, a new Holy Cross and American flag were raised high on poles outside the school with the assistance of two veterans connected to Holy Cross.

“Ryan Koroknay is the dad of two of our students and a Coast Guard member, and Scott Walker, our gym teacher, is a Marine,” said Nicole Gaetani, a teacher at the school. “We are so grateful that these two veterans led the ceremony. It was an honor to have them. Thank you to all veterans for their dedication, sacrifice, and service to our country.”
