Bishop Deeley Celebrates Advent Mass at Cheverus

On the morning of December 19, Bishop Deeley celebrated an Advent Mass at Cheverus High School. Fr. Robert Pecoraro, president of Cheverus, served as concelebrant. The student choir provided a joyous selection of music, and students participated in many ways, including as altar servers, readers, eucharistic ministers and presenters of gifts.

"The celebration of Christmas reminds us that Jesus has come into our world. Advent reminds us that he comes now into the heart of each of us. He shows us our gifts and he calls us to use them for the good of each other, and for the world," said Bishop Deeley in his homily. "Advent reminds us that God needs each of us to bring the message of Christmas, the message of light, the message of Jesus, into our world. Christmas itself reminds us that, with God, all things are possible. I invite you, then, in this Advent time, to open your hearts and know of Jesus’ love for each of you. Trust in that love, and the direction it sets for your life, as you live your life today and always."

Following Mass, students, faculty, staff and alumni gathered for a Christmas celebration.
