45th Madawaska Acadian Festival Mass Set for Grand Isle on August 15

GRAND ISLE---The 45th annual Madawaska Acadian Festival will include the celebration of Mass on Tuesday, August 15, at 1 p.m. at Mizpah, a retreat center located at 129 Doucette Road in Grand Isle. All are welcome to attend.

August 15 is both the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and National Acadian Day.

The Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Kent Ouellette, pastor of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Parish (St. David Church, Madawaska; St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska; St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle), Our Lady of the Valley Parish (St. Agatha Church, St. Agatha; St. Joseph Church, Sinclair; St. Luce Church, Frenchville; St. Michael Church, Birchpoint), and St. Peter Chanel Parish (St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren; St. Joseph Church, Hamlin).

The Madawaska Acadian Festival (August 10-15) is a celebration of Acadian heritage, of which Catholicism is an integral part, that allows participants from all over the country and beyond to gather to enjoy authentic cuisine, cultural events, music, artistry, and French-Acadian hospitality. The festival has been held in Madawaska since 1978 to celebrate all that makes the area and Acadian heritage special.
