St. Joseph Table - Farmington

Sunday, May 4 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM

In honor of the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, St. Joseph Parish will have a St. Joseph Table, which will include a spaghetti meal, on Sunday, May 4, following the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the parish hall.

The St. Joseph Table is a traditon that stems from the Middle Ages. Sicily was devastated by a drought, and St. Joseph was implored to end the consequent famine. When the people’s prayers were answered, a special feast was held to honor the saint, in thanksgiving for his intercession. This event became a yearly tradition. Huge public meals were organized by wealthy families, who always invited the poor, the homeless, and the sick. This was the start of the St. Joseph’s Table.
