Blessing of the Water from Siphusis Brook

Friday, March 29 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM

Embracing a Passamaquoddy tradition that goes back more than 100 years, parishioners will gather on Good Friday for the blessing of the waters of Sipuhsis Brook, located at Peter Dana Point.

There is a longstanding belief that on Good Friday the waters at Sipuhsis become holy by virtue of our Savior’s suffering and death. Following a blessing, people take water from the brook to be used in their homes during the coming year.

Following the blessing, parishioners will return to St. Ann Church on Peter Dana Point Road for Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion.
