Business Manager
Our Lady of Hope Parish
The Parish Business Manager supports the Pastor with the stewardship of the physical, financial, and ministry resources of the parish. The Business Manager is a person of faith committed to Gospel values. He or she values the organization and responsible management of resources, and helps the parish fulfill its mission and purpose.
The Parish Business Manager is responsible for executing day-to-day accounting and finance related functions of the Parish with an eye toward future growth. The Parish Business Manager collaboratively leads budget preparation and controls; manages processing and record keeping for accounts payable, offertory and other receipts, and payroll.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct and manage daily financial activities of the parish, which include budget preparation and control, accounting, purchasing and planning.
- Ensure compliance with parish and diocesan policies, procedures, state and federal regulations.
- Manage cash, cash-related receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable.
- Process accounts payable on a weekly basis, including review and classification of invoices after approval of the pastor.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and associated reports; maintain employee payroll records and time-off benefit balances.
- Reconcile offertory counting sheets with bank deposits
- Reconcile parish bank statements monthly; reconciles parish account quarterly.
- Manage part-time IT/facilities team member.
- Prepare financial statements and reports monthly for the pastor, including quarterly reports for pastor and finance council.
- Evaluate and/or negotiate contracts for the purchase of services in coordination with parish and diocesan policies.
- Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance, repairs for parish facilities, equipment and technology needs.
- Prepare for and attend quarterly Parish Finance Council meetings (weeknight).
- Attend monthly Pastoral Council Meetings (weeknight).
- Participate in diocesan business manager meetings and trainings.
- Collaborate with Pastoral Life and Communications Director.
- Collaborate with St. Brigid School principal when applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
The following education, knowledge, experience, and skills are considered essential
- Commitment to confidentiality at all times.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Team oriented; excellent collaborative interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field, or the equivalent in education and progressively responsible, related work experience, required.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience at a management level required; at least 2 years of experience working in a non-profit organization, preferred.
- Knowledge and skills in all financial functions of a non-profit organization, including processing payables, receivables, and payroll; familiarity with computerized accounting and recording keeping software.
- Experience using online platforms for banking, financial spreadsheets, general ledgers, charts of accounts, etc.
- Proficiency in English. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
- Adept in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience in managing payroll.
- Strong analytical skills, along with systems thinking and strategic thinking.
The additional duties of the Parish Business Manager may vary depending upon other staff resources and parish demands from time-to-time.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

- Additional evening and weekend work. (Required).
Experience:
- Non-profit management: 2 years (Preferred).
- Management level finance or accounting: 5 years (Preferred).
- Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and her mission (Required).
