40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion through prayer, fasting, community outreach, and peaceful vigils in front of abortion facilities.

Prayer keeps us rooted in the fact that it is our desire to carry out God's will. Fasting is a sacrifice that helps us connect more deeply with our spiritual lives and helps us reach beyond our own limitations with God's help. Community outreach provides us with an opportunity to educate those around us. And the peaceful vigils are designed to send a powerful message to the community about the tragic reality of abortion.

Peaceful Vigils

Vigils are the public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life, and in Maine, three are planned, beginning February 18. If you are interested in participating, the locations and contact information can be found below.

AUGUSTA / HALLOWELL

Volunteers will participate in a vigil outside Maine Family Planning on 43 Gabriel Drive. Vigil hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  FMI or to sign up, visit www.40daysforlife.com/en/augustame or email [email protected].  A pro-life Rosary and kick-off rally will be held on Sunday, February 15. The rosary will be prayed at Sacred Heart Church, 14 Summer Street in Hallowell, at 1:15 p.m., followed by the rally in the church hall at 2 p.m.

BELFAST

Volunteers will pray outside Belfast Family Planning at 147 Waldo Avenue. The vigil is planned from February 18-April 2. Hours are Monday-Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.  For more information or to sign up, visit www.40daysforlife.com/en/belfastme.

HOULTON

Volunteers will pray  near the site of Maine Family Planning and Primary Care, which is located at 91 Military Street in Augusta.  If you would like more information or to sign up for a time slot at the Houlton site, visit https://www.40daysforlife.com/en/houlton.
