Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the sacred Easter Triduum, which culminates with the celebration of Easter.

Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland.

On Good Friday, we recall Christ’s Passion and death. It is the only day of the Church calendar on which Mass is not celebrated. Instead, we gather quietly to pray, both for ourselves and those around us; to listen to Scripture; and to venerate the cross.

Bishop James Ruggieri will offer Office of Readings and Morning Prayer on Good Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Students from St. Thomas School will present a powerful and moving Living Way of the Cross, depicting Jesus’ final week before the crucifixion, on Good Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue in Sanford.

In recognition of the diversity of the Lewiston area community, Prince of Peace Parish will hold a multicultural presentation of the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday.

Eighth graders from All Saints Catholic School will present the Living Stations of the Cross at St. John Church in Bangor at noon on Good Friday.

Bishop Ruggieri will preside at a trilingual Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Mellen Street in Portland at 3 p.m. on Good Friday.

Embracing a Passamaquoddy tradition that goes back more than 100 years, parishioners will gather on Good Friday for the blessing of the waters of Sipuhsis Brook, located at Peter Dana Point.

One of the most beloved traditions in eastern European countries, Święconka, will be renewed with the blessing of Easter baskets at St. Mary Church on 768 Ohio Street in Bangor on Holy Saturday, April 4, at 9 a.m.

The traditional blessing of Easter baskets will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls on Holy Saturday at 10 a.m.  

Holy Cross School students will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross in South Portland.

The Missale Romanum reminds us that the Easter Vigil is the "mother of all vigils," the "greatest and most noble of all solemnities."

The Easter Sunday Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord is celebrated with great joy and music. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!”

Bishop James Ruggieri will celebrate Easter Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland at 10 a.m.

Join Prince of Peace Parish for a joyful celebration of the Easter season with a special organ concert by renowned Spanish organist Loreto Aramendi.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish will celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the sacrament of reconciliation, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and Benediction beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Faustina Church in Jackman. Mass will follow at 11 a.m.

An Easter egg hunt for children will be held at at St. Pius X Church in Portland on Sunday, April 12, following the 9:30 a.m. Mass.

St. Mary of the Visitation Parish will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration on Sunday, April 12, at St. Mary of the Visitation Church.

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held Sunday, April 12, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Bridgton.

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will begin at 2 p.m. at St. Maximilian Church with the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation. 

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration at St. Mary Church in Bath will begin with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m.

 Parishioners are invited to begin praying the Divine Mercy Novena on Good Friday, April 3. The novena will conclude on Divine Mercy Sunday with a program at Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street in Old Town, that will include a Holy Hour and the sacrament of reconciliation beginning at 2 p.m., followed by prayers including the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m.

A Divine Mercy Holy Hour with the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held at St. Teresa Church, 425 South Main Street in Brewer, on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m

The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited on Saturday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m., prior to the 4 p.m. Mass at Holy Family Church in Greenville.

A eucharistic Holy Hour with the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held at St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth Street in Portland, on Divine Mercy Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration beginning at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 66 North Avenue in Sanford. It will include the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

The Parish of the Precious Blood will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration beginning at 3 p.m. at St. Denis Church, 147 Main Street in Fort Fairfield. The commemoration of the feast day will include adoration followed by the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

The Parish of the Holy Eucharist will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. at Holy Martyrs of North America Church.

A Mass of Comfort for those who have experienced a loss, whether of a loved one, a job, health, independence, or a pet, etc., will be held at the Christian Life Center in Frenchville on April 25 at 6 p.m.  All are welcome.

The Westbrook Knights of Columbus will sponsor their annual variety show on Saturday, April 25, in the hall of St. Hyacinth Church in Westbrook.

Taizé prayer services are held on the last Sunday of the month at the Christian Life Center in Frenchville.

St. John's Catholic School will hold its annual Spring Soirée, "Illuminated by Faith," on May 2 at the St. John's Community Center in Brunswick.

Following the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street in Portland, there will be a Feast of Corpus Christi eucharistic procession with the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Portland to bear public witness to our faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
