Holy Hour for Peace and Consolation - Cathedral

Friday, February 13 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

In the wake of recent events here in our state and across the country involving immigration enforcement, many are living with fear, uncertainty, and grief. In response, Bishop James Ruggieri invites the faithful to gather for a Holy Hour for Peace and Consolation on Friday, February 6, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

This Holy Hour will be a time to pray before the Lord for those affected, for justice, for peace amid division, and for consolation for those overwhelmed by fear or loss. We come together not only to entrust our concerns to God, but to pray for healing and unity.

As Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has said: “Let us pray for reconciliation where there is division, for justice where there are violations of fundamental rights, and for consolation for all who feel overwhelmed by fear or loss.”

All are welcome to participate. If you cannot join us in person, please do so spiritually.

In addition to the Holy Hour for Prayer and Consolation with Bishop Ruggieri, other parishes in the state will hold prayer services focused on peace and healing in light of recent events related to immigration enforcement in our state and nation.

Our Lady of Hope Parish will have a Service of Prayer for Peace, Healing and Justice at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Avenue in Portland, on Thursday, February 5 from 6:30 to 7: 30 p.m. All are welcome to join as we seek God’s blessing and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

St. Mary of the Visitation Parish will have two Holy Hours for Peace and Consolation on Friday, February 6: at St. Agnes Church, 76 Sewall Street in Island Falls, from 3-4 p.m. and St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 112 Military Street in Houlton, from 5:15-6:15 p.m. followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m. and a potluck dinner.
