Chrism Mass

Tuesday, March 26 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Bishop Robert Deeley will celebrate the annual Chrism Mass on Tuesday, March 26, at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland

During the Mass, the bishop will consecrate the sacred chrism, which will be used through the coming year for baptism, confirmation, and the consecration of altars and churches. He will also bless the oil of the sick used to anoint the sick and the oil of catechumens, which is used to anoint individuals preparing for baptism in the Catholic Church.

The Mass also brings together clergy from around the diocese, who renew their priestly promises before the bishop.

Due to the popularity of the Mass, please contact your parish prior to the Mass if you would like to attend so that a spot may be reserved for you.
