Blessing of the Fleet - Portland

The Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes will hold the annual Blessing of the Fleet at the Maine State Pier on Sunday, June 29.

Boats of all shapes and sizes will gather for a blessing from priests of the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes. The event features a variety of boats, trawlers, and recreational yachts. All boats are welcome! There is plenty of room on the pier for families to come down, watch the blessings, and celebrate this event together.  

The blessing is a tradition that is celebrated in many maritime communities throughout the world and asks the Lord to bless all recreational boats and current mariners and their vessels at the start of the summer season.
