It is a tradition in Rome that on the Third Sunday of Advent children bring “Bambinelli," Baby Jesus figurines from their family Nativity scenes to St Peter’s Square for the Pope to bless them.  Catholic churches throughout the world have begun to join in this tradition, and this year the Parishes of the Western Maine Lakes & Foothills will do so as well.

A Child is Born, which will include the reading of the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke and music by the St. Louis Catholic Church Choir, will be held December 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Louis Church, 106 Main Street in Limestone.

A Day of Prayer & Discernment for men over 18 years of age who are discerning a possible vocation to the diocesan priesthood will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church and St. John’s Community Center, 39-43 Pleasant Street in Brunswick. The day is an opportunity for discerners to pray together, get to know each other, meet diocesan priests, and spend time with the Lord. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by December 27 by emailing [email protected].
