From the earliest days of the Franciscan Order, the followers of St. Francis of Assisi have gathered on the anniversary of his death to celebrate his Transitus (passage from earthly life into everlasting life).
In celebration of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, which is October 4, Fr. Lou Phillips, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Westbrook, visited the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland where he blessed about 30 cats, dogs, bunnies, and birds looking to be adopted.

St. James School in Biddeford and St. Thomas School in Sanford will host fundraising road races on Saturday, November 5, to support the schools’ collective mission to provide a top-notch Catholic education to each of their students.

When the initiative was created in 2016, hitting 1,000 snacks was considered a lofty goal, but parishioners and community members have helped make that large amount of support seem almost pedestrian thanks to their generosity.
