Nearly 20 years ago, Dave Reese was volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Portland when a heartbreaking scene inspired a project that has helped thousands of local people in the years that have followed.
Children participating in faith formation at St. John Vianney Parish in Fort Kent will put on an Epiphany pageant on Saturday, January 6, during the 4 p.m. Mass at St. Louis Church, 26 East Main Street in Fort Kent.
A Festival of Lessons and Carols will be held at Sacred Heart Church on 326 Main Street in Yarmouth on Friday, December 15, at 7 p.m.
All are welcome to gather for a Festival of Lessons & Carols presentation at St. Rose of Lima Church, located on 1 Church Street in Jay, on Friday, December 16, at 6 p.m.
The event will be held at Holy Rosary Church in drive-thru format in front of the parish center from 3 p.m. until the last meal is served. The cost is $10 per meal, and every cent collected will go towards helping neighbors who face difficult situations in the coming months.
All are welcome. The service aims to support those bereaving for a deceased loved one and will include a guest speaker, the lighting of candles, sharing, prayers, and blessings for the souls of the faithful departed.
The Festival of Lessons and Carols will be held at the Church of the Holy Cross, 124 Cottage Road in South Portland, on Monday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m.
