Diocese of Portland names first headmaster for Frassati Classical Catholic High School
The Diocese of Portland has appointed Allison Eilers as the first headmaster of Frassati Classical Catholic High School in Brewer, which will open in September 2026. Eilers brings extensive experience in founding, managing, and advancing classical and faith-based schools, and will officially assume the role on July 1, 2026.
Frassati Classical Catholic High School, one of two Cabrini Schools opening in the diocese in September 2026, is part of the Mother Cabrini Maine Catholic Education Initiative. Through Catholic education, the initiative seeks to proclaim the Gospel, bring others to Jesus Christ, and build the Reign of God. As headmaster, Eilers will serve as the school’s chief administrator and spiritual leader.
“The opportunity to apply my experience to launching this new Catholic school in the Diocese of Portland is a thrilling one,” said Eilers. “I look forward to working with Bishop Ruggieri, Superintendent Wheeler, and others to create a faith-filled, supportive, and academically stimulating school community where students can thrive.”
As the founding principal of Holy Cross High School in Dover, Delaware, Eilers has overseen every aspect of launching a new classical Catholic high school—from initial planning and faculty recruitment to establishing operational systems and cultivating a culture rooted in virtue and academic excellence. Her leadership has ensured the seamless integration of faith-based programming, rigorous academics, and a supportive environment for both students and staff.
“Ms. Eilers’ experience in establishing and growing schools in the classical model and in faith-based education is just the experience we need to launch Frassati Classical Catholic High School,” said Bishop James T. Ruggieri. “We are fortunate to welcome her to the diocese to lead this important effort.”
Prior to Holy Cross High School, Eilers played a pivotal role in the successful launch of Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy in North Carolina, where she served as assistant director for grades 7–12. There, she was instrumental in developing a robust classical curriculum, supporting faculty, and fostering a strong school culture. Her experience includes serving as dean of students at Bonnie Cone Classical Academy, where she implemented schoolwide systems for discipline and character formation, and as elementary dean of academics and student culture at Triad Math and Science Academy, where she led initiatives to improve academic achievement and teacher development.
“I look forward to working with Ms. Eilers, a respected leader in the field of classical education,” said Shelly Wheeler, superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools. “Her expertise in curriculum and faculty development, student growth, and community engagement makes her exceptionally well-qualified for this important position.”
Eilers holds a school administration K–12 credential from Wingate University, a master’s degree in literacy from Long Island University, and dual bachelor’s degrees in behavioral science and elementary education from Mercy College.
Frassati Classical Catholic High School will offer students a faith-filled education grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition and a commitment to academic excellence, virtue, and community. The appointment of its first headmaster marks an important step as the school prepares to welcome its inaugural students, families, and faculty this fall. The school will be on the property of St. Joseph Church in Brewer.
