Mount Merici Academy announces new head of school

Mount Merici Academy in Waterville has announced that Anastasia Shoulta will become head of school effective May 1, 2024.

Shoulta has been part of the Mount Merici Academy community for 16 years. She is currently serving as director of mission and interim head of school, but her many roles have also included parent, support staff, and classroom teacher.

“I am honored to be a part of and continue an educational tradition that has been part of the central Maine community since 1911. The teachers and staff at The Mount are exceptionally devoted. The children and families of Mount Merici are amazing and create a welcoming, caring environment. Together, we will continue to build on the solid foundation of the Ursuline Sisters,” Shoulta said.

Shoulta was Ursuline educated in Kentucky. She graduated from Brescia College in Kentucky and received her Master of Science from SUNY Potsdam in New York. Shoulta is a member of the Board of the Ursuline Educational Network.
