Tenebrae Service - Yarmouth

On the Wednesday of Holy Week, the Parish of the Holy Eucharist will offer a Tenebrae service at Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth from 7-8 pm. The Office of Readings will be sung.

Tenebrae (Latin word meaning “darkness”) is a service that grew out of a combination of night prayer and early morning prayer, with an additional focus on the commemoration of the Passion of our Lord. During the service, candles are gradually extinguished until only a single candle, the Christ candle, remains.
