St. Paul the Apostle Parish celebrates feast of patron saint

Nearly 100 parishioners of St. Paul the Apostle, Bangor, braved the wintery weather last Thursday morning, January 25, to celebrate the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Church by Msgr. Andrew Dubois, pastor of the parish, who was joined by Father Frank Murray and Deacon Michael Whalen. 

In his homily, Msgr. Dubois reminded parishioners that, "Conversion is an ongoing process of deepening faith, for anyone who wants to know and to love and to serve the Lord more deeply and more fully.... realizing that our life is not everything that it could or would or should be and that something or someone of greater purpose does exist and is calling out to us."

A choir led by Dr. Kevin Birch and Ruth Nelligan, both of whom played the organ and the piano, added to the special Mass. All gathered for a brunch following the Mass, an event coordinated by parish staff and parishioners. 

Born a Jew is what is now the country of Turkey, he was named Saul and was a persecutor of Christians. En route to Damascus, the resurrected Jesus appears to Saul, marking his conversion.
