Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses and events around the diocese

The Diocese of Portland has compiled a listing of Masses throughout the state on December 24 and 25 to mark the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord. Mass times can be found by town on this page.

Bishop Robert Deeley will celebrate two Masses at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on 307 Congress Street, Portland – Midnight Mass (12:00 a.m.) and Christmas Day Mass at 10:00 a.m. on December 25.

Several parishes are hosting special Christmas events beginning on December 24 including live Nativities, Christmas caroling, dinners and more. These events can be found here.

Because Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, some parishes have made adjustments to Sunday services, so please refer to parish bulletins and websites. Christmas Masses this year do not fulfill the weekly obligation, so parishioners should plan to attend Saturday afternoon and early Sunday Masses, as well as Christmas Mass. Christmas Eve Masses fulfill one obligation (weekly or Christmas).
