Families invited to a dinner night and presentation at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland
The Portland Catholic Center for Faith, part of the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes, invites families to a dinner night on Friday, November 17, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception’s Guild Hall. The night will include a meal, followed by a presentation for adults, while children will head to the hall’s gymnasium for supervised games.
The guest presenter on November 17 will be Sister Maximilian Cote, a member of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Healing Love, an approved private association of consecrated women in the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire. The association is committed to spreading the healing love of Christ through Mary. Its ministries include service at the St. Charles School in Rochester, a special education provider for children with emotional and behavioral issues.
Sister Maximilian’s topic will be “Parenting for Virtue,” but she noted that even those who are not parents might find some valuable takeaways since everyone is called to nurture and love others.
This is the second time that Sister Maximilian has been invited to give a presentation at the cathedral. Abrey Feliccia, director of the Portland Catholic Center for Faith, said a talk that the sister gave last year about love and the Eucharist was so moving, they invited her back so that more people would have the opportunity to hear her speak. You do not need to preregister nor be a member of the Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes to attend. This is a free event, although donations toward future gatherings are welcome.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is located at 307 Congress Street in Portland.
