Sister Maura Murphy, RSM

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sr. Maura Murphy, RSM, who died peacefully at Frances Warde Convent on Monday, March 12, 2018.  Sister Maura was 83 years old, and this year would be her 65th anniversary of entry into the Sisters of Mercy. 

Sister Maura was a beloved teacher, known for her gentleness, kindness, love of teaching and love of her students.  She served at several schools during her many years of teaching including St. Joseph School in Portland, St. Mary School in Old Town, St. Mary School in Biddeford, St. Joseph School in Lewiston, St. Patrick School in Portland, St. Mary School in Bangor, and Holy Cross School in South Portland, where she was a teacher and principal. 

During her many years of ministry, Sister Maura also served at the St. Elizabeth’s Child Development Center for a year, as religious education director at St. James School in Biddeford, and as interim supervisor of elementary education students at St. Joseph’s College of Maine.

Please remember in your prayers Sister Maura’s religious and natural families. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen
