Brother James Lacasse, FIC

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Brother Marcel Lacasse (in religion Brother James), who died on Monday, April 16, at the age of 91.  He was born in Waterville in 1926 and was one of 10 children. He joined the Brothers of Christian Instruction in Alfred, beginning his novitiate in 1942.  Brother James’ ministry was in education.  He taught in elementary and high schools, including in Sanford, before joining the staff at Walsh College (now University) in Canton, Ohio, where he served as dean of students and registrar.  He was also golf coach there, earning Coach of the Year honors and national titles. Since 1955, Brother James was at the Brothers' home in Alfred, where he performed community service as treasurer and a beloved local superior at different times.

Please keep in your prayers the Brothers of Christian Instruction as well as the natural family of Brother James who mourn his passing.  May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen.
