Sister Fleurette Kennon, RSM
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sr. Fleurette Kennon, RSM, who died Thursday, March 7, two months shy of her 92nd birthday. Sister Fleurette, a native of Portland, will be remembered by many as the librarian at St. Joseph’s College of Maine for 22 years, from 1977 to 1999. The quiet room was dedicated in her honor in 2016, since she liked it quiet in the library. That same year, she celebrated her 70th jubilee as a Sister of Mercy.
Prior to her time at St. Joseph’s College, Sr. Fleurette taught in many schools throughout the diocese. They include St. Dominic School in Portland, St. Teresa School in Brewer, St. Athanasius School in Rumford, Cathedral Junior High in Porland, St. John School in Bangor, Holy Cross School in South Portland, St. Mary School in Augusta, and St. Mary School in Houlton. She also served as principal at St. Mary School in Bangor, St. Joseph School in Lewiston, and at a public school in Benedicta.
Please pray for the consolation of her religious community, the Sisters of Mercy, and her family.
May her soul and the soul of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
