Sister Rita Morin, CSJ
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Rita Morin, CSJ, formerly known as Sister Roger-Marie, who died Wednesday, May 20, at age 87.
Sister Rita was born in Lewiston in 1933, the daughter of Romeo and Marie-Laure (Pascal) Morin. She earned a BA in education from St. Joseph's College of Maine and also studied at St. Michael College in Vermont and the Universite Catholique de Paris for studies in advanced French. She then obtained a certificate in clinical pastoral education from Bon Secours Hospital, Methuen, MA.
Sister Rita entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyons in February 1951 and made her religious profession in August 1958. She taught at Holy Family School in Lewiston, St. Rose of Lima School in Jay, and St. John the Baptist School in Winslow. She served as chaplain at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and Mount St. Joseph in Waterville. She also worked for Murphy Homes in Lewiston, where she was especially gifted working with adults with developmental disabilities,treating them with immense love and respect.
